Stockholm pattern for Viking Glass console Lotus bowl by Wayne Husted 1974 Mid Century Modern

Sold by: Uncle TT’s Tiki Room

In the 70s Wayne Husted worked for Viking glass briefly as they wanted to create glassware to compete with lines coming over from Norway, Sweden and Finland like IIttala. Oddly, Blenko wanted the same thing and proceeded to hire Don Sheppard , you’d have thought they might have stuck with Husted. Husted was sort of a free agent in the 70’s also doing work for Stelvia Italy via contract with Indiana Bischoff. His work for them is my fav, the Antiqua line, 3 pieces of which adorn my den cocktail table.
This bowl is the large bowl in the Viking Stockholm line (see the Scandinavian connection ) 5 petals create a starflower shaped bowl with 5.5 inch tall peaks and a 13 inch diameter. No chips or cracks or visible wear. This was heavy, durable yet graceful glass. The Stockholm line was only produced for a few years before Viking became defunct.
