Rare Coro Sterling Bird Brooch – Signed Norseland Sterling – 1940’s Vintage Mr & Mrs Bird Sitting on a Tree Branch – Round Opened Back –

$175.00 $80.00

Rare Coro Sterling Bird Brooch – Signed Norseland Sterling – 1940’s Vintage Mr & Mrs Bird Sitting on a Tree Branch – Round Opened Back – offered by TheJewelSeeker on 21VintageStreet. This Lovely brooch was made by Coro and was their Norseland Line of higher end sterling silver jewelry in the Arts and Crafts style. It was inspired by the Scandinavian designers of the time, designers like Georg Jensen and others, and was beautifully crafted. Coro stopped production of this line after World War II. This piece is a nice larger size, with significant weight and is stylistically just as beautiful as the Scandinavian artists of that time. The piece has been lightly polished, and yet has a lovely valuable patina in the low areas. If you like that high polished look, we are sure it will polish up very nicely, but we are leaving the decision to have high polished or a darker vintage patina up to the buyer.

Color: Sterling Silver
Approximate Size: 2 1/4″ in diameter

Approximate Weight: 28.4 grams

Condition (please read definition below): Excellent with a well working clasp with the pin stem being slightly bent; a lovely light patina.

Approximate Date: 1940’s
Hallmarks/signature: Signed Norseland by Coro, Sterling, US Pat Pend (pen are missing, but you can tell that is what it says – it just overlapped the cut out area).

CONDITION RATING EXPLANATION:
This guide is an attempt to demystify some of the words I use to rate the condition of the jewelry I’m listing. Most vintage jewelry is used and may exhibit signs of wear, which is normal due to the age of some pieces. I describe each piece individually and will point out any flaws I find. I also usually increase the contrast in my photos, so any flaws will be more pronounced. That said, here are some overarching descriptors and what they might mean inside an auction:

MINT:
New, in the box (from which it has never been removed), as it came from the factory. This criteria is so difficult to meet, that it is almost NEVER used.

NEAR MINT:
Appears to be never worn or used, nor stored improperly. It may display its age by tarnishing, especially in silver (once polished, however, it is no longer Near Mint).

EXCELLENT: Top condition with no chipping, fading, missing stones, no yellowing stones, no peeling, no worn prongs or edges. Backs (especially of earrings) may be very slightly worn as long as the front is still in Top Condition. Replaced stones should be so perfect in size cut and color that it is virtually unnoticeable.

VERY GOOD:
Well cared for with no missing stones, no dead stones or graying stones, no peeling pearls, enamel may have minor chips, may show slight wear or scratching on prongs, edges. Backs may be very moderately worn. Replaced stones should be a good match in size, cut and color.

GOOD:
Very wearable and acceptable, however, upon close inspection may reveal some poor foiling including spotting( the small “pepper” kind), minor clouding and minor darkening or graying stones, chipping, minor yellowing and wear.

FAIR:
Damage is immediately visible and may or may not be repairable, and might include missing stones, dark stones including spotting that is more than “pepper”, broken parts, & severe wear.

AS FOUND: In addition these subcategories may exist, along with appropriate explanations: ALTERED, REFURBISHED, RECONSTRUCTION, SOLDERED.
with light signs of wear consistent with age. Or a piece that is damaged beyond repair, recycle parts, valuable for research or for further study.

Care of Sterling jewelry: Patina is what gives older silver pawn jewelry its character. That?s why in our shop, we never remove patina ? we let the new owner decide if they want the item to show its age or to be shiny. Authentic patina increases the value of old Silver, Gold, Brass and Copper pieces. It is not verdigris.

We often get asked about resizing cuffs. We suggest that you check with a local Silver Smith to resize or reshape your cuffs and rings.

ALL the items in my shop are vintage or antique and has been previously worn. Items will show wear commensurate with their age and any major flaws will be noted. Many enlarged close, detailed photos are taken for you to view.

GEMSTONES: Gemstones may or may not be LAB Gemstone or if it is a NATURAL Gemstone. Some Gemstones have been altered in a lab. Gemstones have been tested with the Presidium Gem Tester. We are not gemologists, nor do we have the refractor equipment to test for exact stone. We do test on the Gem Tester to verify that a stone is a gemstone. So we can guarantee a stone is a gemstone, but cannot guarantee which it is. We can easily verify some stones, but not all.

IMPORTANT INFO: Although I do my best, Photographing jewelry for SIZE reference can be a little tricky, and often items look larger on screen. COLORS can also vary depending on computers. So, please refer to the description of color and measurements for actual size. All items are described to the best of my knowledge. If you have any questions, please feel free to convo me. You, the buyer, are the final judge after viewing the photos and reading the description. It is up to you to ask the questions that are most important to you. I will answer to the best of my ability.

Most items have been cleaned, but there may be some additional cleaning that will need to be done to meet the standards of the buyer.

I do recommend that if you purchase earrings, to disinfect the hardware with several wipes of alcohol (be careful to avoid the stones). NOTE: Clip on Earrings may need to be tightened or loosened, according to the size of ear lobes. You can obtain an “earring key” online at jewelry supply shops, or take it to your local jewelry store.
